Corey Hill Pavilion c.2020

This pavilion was designed as a “cooking pavilion” for outdoor summer grilling.  The full-length monitor was added for grilling ventilation, but also as a design element that harkens to the local vernacular sugarhouses of Geauga County.   The structure measures 18′ x 28″ and is joined in white oak,  cherry, eastern hemlock, all held together with black locust pegs and four red oak wedges.  The gables are queen-post trusses and the central cross-frame is a sling blade truss that utilizes two naturally curved cherry timbers.
