Aspen Hills Barn

Summer 2025

This 20′ x 20′ barn framework, crafted from local eastern white pine, comprises the timber-framed portion of a larger 20′ x 40 building that serves as a woodworking shop in the conventionally framed end and an enclosed pavilion for family gatherings and entertaining in the other end. The timber dimensions were sized intentionally larger than structurally necessary in order to create the barn-like aesthetic that the client often referenced during our initial design meetings. The frame design also utilizes a central queen-post truss that eliminates the need for any interior posts and allows for a set of large sliding doors to be located in the middle of the north eave-wall.
