Crooked River Cape c.2016

This soon to be retirement residence is located near Burton, Ohio – just down the road and around the corner from us.  Situated on a wooded bluff overlooking the West Branch of the Cuyahoga River, this 27’0 x 35’0 framework is joined in locally milled eastern white pine and crooked, live-edged black cherry, and held together with hickory pegs.  Although it is a classic high-post Cape Cod style house, the interior lacks the typical upper floor – so all the roof framing will remain fully visible from the main floor below.  The design was a collaborative effort between us and a local architect, Joe Linek, Linek Studio, of nearby Newbury, Ohio.
