Little Mountain Sugarhouse c.2009

Our third sugarhouse, this framework is joined almost entirely in eastern hemlock, with the exception of a pair of black cherry raking struts rising from the mid cross-frame tie-beam. The main frame measures 14’0 x 18’0, and the gabled porch approximately 8’0 x 12’0. A new 2’0 x 6’0 wood-fired Leader Evaporator will grace the interior and will be boiling away this upcoming sugar season.

This is our first framework in Lake County, Ohio. The frame pattern is influenced by 19th century English -American timber-framing. The frame was raised as the autumn leaves fell in late October by a gathering of family and friends.
