River Valley Sugarhouse c.2013

This 18′ x 24′ sugarhouse is framed entirely in eastern white pine. I designed this simple, functional, no-frills framework for the owner of the local mill that I’ve sourced all my softwood timber from over the past 17 years. With just the occassional visit to answer questions and demonstrate both layout and cutting techniques, this fellow and his seven sons saw the project through to its completion. The framework was raised by hand with the help of his family and friends on a balmy November Saturday.
