Rock Creek Barn c.2012
This 24′ x 45′ English Ground Barn is framed in a mixture of Eastern Hemlock and Eastern White Pine. It replaces an earlier 24′ x 36′ ground barn on a family farm located near Rock Creek, Ashtabula County, Ohio.
We explored the possibility of restoring the earlier barn, but damage and decay were so extensive the owner opted to replace it with a new timber-framed barn, but just a bit larger.
The new barn has both gable-entry and eave-wall entry wagon doors as well as a partial loft over a shop space at one end. The barn will serve as both shop and implement/tractor storage.
The frame was raised on a perfect day in July with the help of friends, family, and a crane.
